Regarding the Recent Christian Twitter Battles…

Bible in the Light

It’s getting harder to be express beliefs in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. There is a rising sentiment and belief in the Muslim faith as well as an alarming increase in the atheist and agnostic perspective. Those alone are not necessarily the challenge here in America; opinions are something that everyone in this country are entitled to and disagreement is often the fastest path towards enlightenment. The biggest challenge facing Christians in America is a shift in beliefs and expansion of opinions within the various churches and doctrines themselves.

We live in a world that allows us the most extreme level of communication ever. It’s possible for anyone with a computer and an internet access to have a voice that can reach other people. As a result, the differing opinions of Christian leaders can clash more easily. On one level, this is a good thing, but it can also cause strife between believers that erupts in a public manner.

Case in point: the recent debate on Twitter between Christian leaders of opposing viewpoints. Read about it if you haven’t heard, then come back for…

My Perspective

There are many who are out there saying, “Can’t we just all get along?” Some would say that there are bigger battles to be fought with the forces of evil, but I disagree. As I’ve said in the past, the biggest threat facing believers comes from misinformation being pushed through other believers. We are heading down a road of watering down Christianity, of making faith popular rather than pure, and of spreading convenient doctrine rather than real doctrine.

The Bible gives us everything that we need as a base. We must pray and seek guidance to get a full understanding. That’s where the problem lies, in seeking guidance. The unfortunate truth is that much of the guidance out there pushes people in the wrong direction. Many are not being prepared in a way that the Lord wants us to prepare. So much focus is being put onto this life, living well, abundance, and works that many of the the Bible are being lost in poor commentaries and popularized books.

Some would say that the fight is a silly one. I believe it’s the most important one happening right now. The truth is important. Falsehoods need to be stopped as quickly as possible. Social media is a medium for spreading the wrong messages. We need to start using it to spread the right ones.
