I was thinking back today as I work on the new company website about the first infographic we built ourselves. We’d participated in building infographics all the way back to 2008, but this was ours. It was like coming home for the first time to a new apartment after living 17 years with your parents. Here it is – still relevant today.

“The Social Network” made hackathons relatively famous as they depicted the early days when programmers and developers for Facebook would “plug in” and work together to create wonderful things. They looked fun and it’s easy to see how collaborative development of apps and software can make perfect sense in a world where creativity combined with technological acumen yield awesomeness.

I saw this picture last month and remembered when I wanted to buy this so badly for my son. He was a little young to have a computer of this magnitude, but I wanted it anyway knowing that it would entice him to enter the world of computers, the internet, and the wonderful potential available through technology.

This really should go without saying. Gizmodo learned the lesson the hard way when one of their former employees got hacked, leaving the Gizmodo Twitter account and other profiles vulnerable to the foul-mouthed ways of the hackers.
A week later, Marissa Mayer is still the hottest story in tech (and that’s a good thing for Yahoo)
Yahoo seems to have picked the right person for the job. That’s at least what it looks like a week into her reign, which is of course not nearly enough time to tell. She may flop. I doubt it, though.
Just over a week ago we declared that Yahoo had “picked a winner” by bringing in Marissa Mayer as CEO. She’s still at the top of tech boards like Techmeme, an early sign of acceptance by the tech community that she’ll be able to do something with the beleaguered online juggernaut.
